About La Shauna
Your Palo Alto & Peninsula Birthkeeper!
My Story
My name is La Shauna Black and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my family. I have received the priceless gift of being a mother. I am a mother of six: three as a gift from my husband, one bonus from my mother, and two I birthed! My children (and my husband!) have given me pure joy and shown me what it means to love unconditionally and selflessly. Receiving the honor of carrying my children in my womb are some of my fondest memories.
I have enjoyed all my avenues of work, but always found excitement with birth & being involved with the delivery, so I followed my heart and started my life as a birth worker. Giving birth is life altering and I believe every birthing person should have a positive birth experience however they choose it. I believe it to be an honor and privilege to be a part of your birth experience.
I have always had a passion for working with children and families. I have worked as a teacher’s aide, with teen mothers at a non-profit & a medical assistant for over seventeen years mainly in a pediatrics.
I am Cornerstone certified. I am certified as a Childbirth educator, Birth & Labor, Postpartum and Homebirth support, Optimal Fetal Positioning (Baby mapping), dance instructor for Dance Baby Down. I have also completed the “Grandma’s Hands Pregnancy & Postpartum Herbs and Nutrition in the Southern Tradition” course with Divine Birth Wisdom. Certified with Steamy Chick as a Vaginal Steam Facilitator. I am currently working with CBT (Cornerstone Birthkeeper Trainings) as a Teaching Assistant.
I also provide support to families who have suffered the loss of an Infant from conception through age 2. I am a trained and certified PAIL Advocate (Prenatal and Infant Loss). I am honored to walk beside parents going through these most difficult moments.
